How I Created the PRÏNCIPESSA Collection

The PRÏNCIPESSA Collection was born from a desire to reinterpret traditional Portuguese goldsmithing with a more contemporary language, while always maintaining the essence of handmade craftsmanship.

In this collection, both the earrings and the ring underwent a very specific creative process, with technical and aesthetic decisions meticulously thought out.

The origin of the name PRÏNCIPESSA

An interesting fact about this collection is that it was initially going to be called “Princesse”.

As I designed the pieces, I ended up remembering the phrase “Life is Beautiful” from Roberto Benigni’s film.

The princess theme and the idea of a beautiful life began to make perfect sense within this collection, and that's when the name PRÏNCIPESSA asserted itself.

The PRÏNCIPESSA earrings: tradition reinterpreted

For the earrings, I was directly inspired by traditional Portuguese goldsmithing, more specifically by the classic "brincos à princesa" (princess earrings).

I maintained the characteristic three mobile bodies of this type of piece, but reformulated what should be mobile and what should remain fixed.

The bow was the first part to be redesigned. Instead of the solid filigree bow, I created a more clean version, integrated into the round part of the earring and connected to the lobe, just as it traditionally happens.

The first color that came to mind was pink. The princess theme naturally evokes these tones, so I chose rose quartz for the lobe, creating a piece with a distinctly feminine tone.

The PRÏNCIPESSA ring: delicate lightness

For the ring, the challenge was to maintain the same language as the earrings.

From the beginning, I knew I wanted the silver to embrace the stone, but without setting it in a traditional way and without losing delicacy.

The solution found was to secure the stone through two silver veins, soldered to the body of the ring.

This structure allows the stone to remain secure but with movement, creating the illusion from afar that it is suspended in the middle of the ring.

A coherent and intentional collection

Both the PRÏNCIPESSA earrings and ring were designed to complement each other.

These are pieces that respect tradition, but reinterpret it with a contemporary approach, where every detail has a purpose.
